Winter chill

A cold and icy morning.  However it did not stop 2 cyclists negotiating the route through our village.  Kirra was interested in what they were doing.  When I arrived back from hospital around midnight it had been snowing a little and the  the sky was magnificent with stars.

I am anxious to have my home dialysis up and running before the really bad weather hits our area.  Still have problems with  catheter and fluid not going in.  Possibly another operation is on the cards.

Kirra just waits patiently for her dad returning from hospital and she is a joy to see.

Enjoy your Sunday.

Memory Lane

This was the entrance and exit for the ponies which worked in the mines below.  The mines are now.closed.

The hardship for both miners and ponies one can only imagine.

Death in a Foreign Land

As Sunday is a time of Remembrance, I wrote this poem for those who never returned.

DEATH IN A FOREIGN LAND

Age, not of life
They travelled of duty
Men of many
They answered
The call.

Far off land
Where guns and steel
Lay alongside
The many
Who had fallen
Their life
Devoid of dreams.
 IMG_20131109_131149
Rich in beauty
Allenheads by sight
Those who died
Remembered
Names for all
Who can spare a moment
Reflect of silence
War Memorial
This place
So proud.

As the sound of birds
Echo over the land
The sun, her rays
Awaken all
Who stop and visit
This land, so quiet
Only the birds in flight
As if on display
Fly past the scene
Of those who died
A death in a foreign land
We should never forget
Their names

Birthday Girl

My Irish Princess is 4 today.  This is the 1st photo I received of my then puppy when she lived in Ireland.  As you can see I fell in love with her immediately.

Kirra-baby

She had to travel on (2) ferries to get to me and the weather was stormy conditions – but she made it safely and was a joy to finally see her.  She was in a travel cage for the journey and now she has a fabric travel carrier, which is huge, although collapses for easy transport.  She still loves her fabric travel carrier and often looks on it as her quiet comfort zone.

How the years have flown over and throughout, Kirra has brought so much happiness into my life, and indeed all that she meets.

Time Out

We all need to take time out, from our hectic life.

And my Kirra clearly shows, what better way, than to take in the cool breeze whilst relaxing on the lawn.

Leap Year

It’s leap year and the day when a Lady can propose to a man.

I guess I shall have to find a Lady, in the hope that she will propose marriage, I still live in hope – although the leap years have been many and no such opportunity has arisen.

IMG00033-20111015-1201

Mind you, she will have to be one very special lady, as she will have to compete with my Irish Princess – Kirra – always the love of my life.

Ireland

As some of you may know, my Kirra was born in Ireland.

A beautiful country, of wonderful people and even more so, they brought me, my Irish Princess.

When you go Visiting

When you go visiting, one should stay on the floor

IMG-20120115-00006

However, if one is a Cavalier King Charles – one should always have status – of a comfy sofa.

The Look

How we look is immaterial, the ability to be alert is important.

As my Kirra, clearly shows, she has her eyes on something.

Irish Princess

I am the Princess

In my father’s place

Regal in status

My throne

A comfy chair.

All who enter

Must bid me greetings

For I shall not move

From this chair.

Born of Ireland

My status is evident

For all to see

Now, I shall expect

A bow.

Continental

Continental of vision

So to that of aroma

As wafting in the

Cold morning air

One can be forgiven

For thinking, you are now

In France, enjoying that

Continental theme.

Photo0203

Alas, all to soon

The realisation

As traffic in haste

Shouts and horns

All eager to find a space

In a make-shift car park

They always leave their trace.

Continental of vision

And so to, that of aroma

I remember you well

Thoughts flood back

Of enjoyment and taste

As the hurried life

Often passed me by.

Dream

I dream of a distant past

Of a land where I was born.

Rugged hills

And windswept street

Atlantic ocean, often

At my feet.

This land of my birth

Perhaps I shall see once more.

022

As I gaze upon this

Forest of green

And smell the salt air.

It reminds me of my

Emerald Isle

The place where I

Was born.
